Anthony Newley & Leslie Bricusse' 1960's "The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd"
gets a top notch revival from The Children's Theatre Group of Southern California & The Eclectic Company Theatre located in Noho at 5312 Laurel Canyon. Sean Smith & Alec Medlock star as "Sir" & "Cocky" & are both terrific singer/actors with excellent comic timing. The musical examines the maintenance of the status quo between the upper & lower classes of British society over 50 years ago. Sir is forever changing the rules of the game & downtrodden young Cocky must get crafty & inventive to compete with his friend & nemesis. The fast moving production is directed with aplomb by Bonnie Hellman with stylish choreography by Kay Cole & snappy musical direction by Emily Cohen. Kudos to Tricia Berry for her fine costumes & cool lighting & set design by John Dickey & Dan Mailley. The show features delightful child performers in the kids/urchin roles as well as talented young adults Marc Anthony Pritchett, Caitlin Gallogly & Phil Biedron in cameos. Urchins are well played by Lola Michelle Brown, Vera Wheatley, Tess Cooley, Alexa Druyanoff, Langdon Janos & Jenna Zuckerman. Liam Daniels is a scene stealer as the Boy. The show runs til November 23rd & for more information about this fine Sherry Lynn/Robert Briscoe Evans production visit www.eclecticcompanytheatre.org - Enjoy... HH
